About
Suicide prevention is everyone's business.
Suicide is the 9th leading cause of death in Canada and accounts for just over 25% of all deaths of youth ages 15-29. Yet Canada is one of the only countries in the G7 without a National Suicide Prevention Strategy and instead uses a 12-point action plan.
The Hope Can't Wait Campaign, informed by professional and lived experience, aims to change that.
In March 2026, a petition was submitted to the House of Commons for the creation and implementation of a formal national suicide prevention strategy. It garnered over 460 signatures, but the work does not stop there.
The Hope Can't Wait Campaign is a call to action for the federal government from Canadians to answer the call and support those who are in crisis while ensuring a reduction in suicides.
Campaign Objectives
The Hope Can't Wait Campaign has a mission of reducing the stigma around suicide, working to ensure public education around suicide prevention efforts and supports, and supporting efforts of organizations and people working towards the creation of a national suicide prevention strategy.

Creation of a National Strategy
